Sardinia

We went to Alghero, on the Italian island of Sardinia for the end of May Bank Holiday this year.  It wasn’t our first choice of location, and came about after a number of different circumstances.  Never the less, it was a lovely trip away.

We stayed just out of Alghero in a small village called Fertilia.  It was a cute little place and a much needed relief after the hustle and bustle of the big, crowded smoke that is London.  Getting to Alghero from Fertilia is about 10 minutes in a taxi at a cost of about €15-€20 or by taking the hourly public bus for €1 each way.

Alghero, unlike Paris for example, does not have 101 different museums and buildings to look at in fact if you do manage to find yourself there, you’ll be greeted by the whitest sands in Europe, and some of the best food we’ve had in a long time.  This was great as we were really in need of a relaxing and refreshing holiday.  Oh and if you like pasta, it seems, in Italy that it is an entire course in it’s own right!

We were quickly brought back to reality upon landing in London, with the rain, cold weather and pushy commuters, but hey that’s why we came here!
